What happens when you have a love of stargazing and find an eight foot bear in a reccie yard?

Of course you build a cabin that is devoted to the star constellation Ursa Major that can be seen in the skies above where you build your beautifully bonkers luxury cabin.

Dream it.

We wanted a cabin that didn’t take itself too seriously but serious enough to not cut the corners on luxury and individualism. We also have some cheeky details that can be discovered inside.
Build it.

With Oli the wood man, we pulled out nails from pallets, foraged our pastures for fallen wood and hammered in the shingles by hand. A real labour of love that George Clarke thought was amazing!
Dress it.

With a love of finding out craftsmanship from all over the globe there is a cacophony of textures and art that you will not find anywhere else in one space. We cater for all and love celebrating with you.
Love it.

Incredible at any time of year but Ursa Bear cabin comes alive at night time. Dark skies status means star gazing at Ursa is MAJOR! We cannot think of a better reason that that to come and stay.

This is how we did it

Whilst building Yggdrasil Treehouse in 2021 Val and Mark caught the bug. But they wanted the next project to be a little different to the usual cabins you see. Even more unique. After a chance rummage around their local junk yard, they came across a bear with a big personality and knew they had their next big idea.

Mark has a lifelong obsession with the stars and it’s no surprise that where Mark and Val live they can get some of the best skies in the country to observe from. Many a cold night has been spent outside, wrapped up in rugs and hats waiting for the perfect time to see Jupiter or a crystal clear Milky Way complete with shooting stars.

Val knew her vision (AKA an 8 foot bear) would maybe peak the interests of a certain Mr George Clarke and after submitting an application form in 2021 thought nothing more and started to steam ahead with planning and securing the talents of Oli Lee to help Val and Mark build the most beautifully bonkers cabin anyone has ever seen!

It turned out George was very interested in meeting Ursa, and so the crazy idea just got even more fun. Filming a build during a pandemic over the course of a year! Oli has the skills and know how of wood and Val now knows how to pull nails from wood so effectively that she could start her own nail scrapyard!

As the build went on and the dream was taking shape is when Val gets her best ideas and so there were some inevitable ‘additions’ to the cabin that only add in personality and a whole heap of fun. And that is what Ursa Cabin is about because luxury relaxation doesn’t need to be boring!
